Recruitment is now open for our study on how children learn to tell stories. We're looking for English-speaking adults and children aged 3–11 in Melbourne to come in for a session.
Here's what's involved: you'll watch a series of short, wordless, G-rated videos and retell what happened. It takes less than an hour, there are regular breaks, and honestly — most kids find it pretty fun. There are no right or wrong answers, and no performance pressure.
All participants receive a $50 prepaid card. Children also choose a small take-home gift at the end.
There's no obligation once you arrive. If you or your child get there and decide they'd rather not participate — or want to stop partway through — that's completely fine. You'll still receive the gift. We mean it: no pressure, ever.
Sessions are held at the University of Melbourne (Babel Building, Level 4, Room 414)
